The Lakeshore Lodge sits on the old site of Currier's Village, built back in the 1930's. These pioneers of Hollywood included Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Lily Pons, and Roy Rogers, among others. Roy would also travel with his band “The Sons of the Pioneers" and would often play in the lounge. They would come by train and plane, and you would see Rolls Royces driving up and down the streets of Lakeside. The original airstrip can still be seen as you enter town.
Roy Currier offered top-shelf cuisine, fantastic live entertainment, and a little surreptitious casino action downstairs. The village consisted of steam-heated cabins and a restaurant and lounge located at the end of the pier overlooking the lake. The Curriers sold the famous village in 1939 for $75,000. As the years passed, the village aged, and there was a large fire. Currier’s Village was torn down in the late 1960's.
Today the only thing that can still be seen from Currier's Village is one of the original cabins that sits in our parking lot between The Lodge and McKay's Market. Stop by our lobby and check out some of the old pictures. The Lakeshore Lodge was built in the early 1970's on the old site and still has the beautiful views of the lake that the Pioneers of Hollywood came to enjoy. We hope you enjoy your visit to the lodge and this wonderful part of our country. We thank you and appreciate your business.
